italian architects massimiliano and doriana fuksas of massimiliano fuksas architects have participated in a competition for
'longchamp racecourse' in paris, france. taking the form of a flaring flower the trumpet shape creates a play of light and
shadow throughout the structure. the architectural petals illuminate the interior spaces with sculptural forms allowing for
panoramic views of paris' cityscape.
the existing site is a 57 hectare horse-racing facility built on the banks of the seine river. used for flat racing it is known for its
variety of interlaced tracks being the home of more than half of the classics and major international events held in france.
the concept for the new facility allows for large crowds to gather and be entertained by the equestrian activities below.
